Odds and Ends of June

A few action shots of baseball, the boys are pretty good at hitting the ball now, especially Jonathan. Jeff's really been working with them. We hope to sign them up to play t-ball or instructional baseball next year.

We went to see "wall.e" tonight, very cute movie. The boys loved it. We drove down by the water afterwards to see a freighter coming in and got some shots on the river. The boys love all the action down there, we saw the freighter, big Red, a marine patrol boat and lots of other boats.

We met some new friends this month too, Alexis is adopted from China and so full of laughter and energy. We are so thrilled for her parents who waited a very long time to bring her into their family. Cash is the son of some other friends and just adorable. We had fun visiting with both at a recent party to welcome Alexis. What cuties they both are!

We are so excited to be heading into July, our busiest month of the year by far! Lots of big plans ahead.

Finally, we lost a dear, sweet lady last night. Grandma McGrail passed away at 95 years old. She will be sadly missed up in the cottage association. Her laughter and personality will be remembered so fondly by all of us. We had a nice talk about her on the beach today, laughing and telling stories, she would have loved it. Big hugs to all of the family who will miss her so.

A few Camping pictures....better late than never!

A few pictures from Grandma Kris taken on their camping trip a couple weeks ago.

Summer...ahhhhh

We had a few showers last night but the sun was out and there was the largest, most vivid rainbow with a second shadow of it next to it. The pictures do it no justice at all but we got a few. Sadly, our good camera is broken and off being fixed.

We have been busy doing some work at the cottage and getting it ready for summer. Romey, Jamie and cousin Emma were here for the weekend and we got alot done.

We had dinner Friday night with Grandma Cindy and Papa Terry as they were here in town on a bicycle tour. It was fun sitting on the big porch at the Harbor House Inn watching the people, freighters, ships, and even Big Red helicopter go by!

Our summer friends are here in full swing out at the cottages, lots of fun and laughs. What a summer it's going to be!

An Impromtu Block Party

Last week we happened to gather a group of neighbors at Papa Mark's as we were all outside. We had fun visiting, playing with Charlie the puppy and seeing our friend Deputy Mark and his daughter Claudia. Claudia had fun with my cell phone and then decided to check out what the boys were drinking from my mug. Hope her mom doesn't mind....Claudia likes ginger ale!!

Summer vacation begins

In the last week the boys have been from one end of Michigan to the other. They saw all of their grandparents and had some adventures.

First, Grandma Cindy and Papa Terry came for two days. Matthew wasn't feeling well the first day but he got good care and recovered quickly. Jonathan proudly made chocolate chip muffins with Grandma and shared them with us all although I think he ate most of them as they kept disappearing off the counter. They also had some bike rides and helped Papa do some work around our house. Thanks Papa!!

Then, we had our first venture into Papa Mark's pool. The heater was broken so we didn't spend much time in the 60 degree water but the boys got all the boys pools out and tried out their new pool nets. We think Papa needs to hire them as pool boys.

We had Papa Pete and Papa Mark (and Grandma Kris too) for an early Father's Day dinner made by Daddy. He spoiled us with ribs, potatoes and strawberry shortcake.

We met up with Grammy in Lansing and traded off the boys last Thursday. She took them to Grosse Pointe for the weekend. They spent some time at the Farms Pier and swam and played, hit the Village for the Thursday night concert (and of course had some ice cream), went to an ice cream social and a Tigers game with a group from Grammy's church. Grammy says she got a good workout hiking up and down the steps at the game getting boys food! They met the daughter of the minister who is five and they thought she was pretty cute. They also enjoyed the outside church service Sunday afternoon. They met up with Jeff and traded back yesterday, we missed our boys. They had a great time, thanks Grammy!

This week has more adventures in store for our young adventurers....stay tuned.

Preschool Graduates!

The boys had their preschool graduation yesterday and are officially ready for kindergarten!!

They had a wonderful time celebrating with friends at Crazy Bounce, followed by cupcakes and ice cream and a small presentation. We went out to lunch to celebrate and then had a wonderful afternoon at the beach.

We've skipped from spring weather into HOT!! It's been hot and humid and windy!!! The boys and Daddy slept in the playroom last night because it was thunderstorming so much they wouldn't go to sleep. We're in for more storms today they say.

Not quite swimming water...

The lake was a whopping 54 degrees but that didn't slow them down any. The sun faded during the afternoon as clouds came in but we are to hit the upper 80's by mid-week. The boys are eagerly awaiting the opening of Papa's pool!

Red Bull Air Race in Detroit

The boys, Daddy and Papa Mark went on a roadtrip yesterday to Detroit to see the Red Bull Air Race on the Detroit River. No adventure to Detroit would be complete without a journey to Coney Island! After lunch, they watched the races at the river and then went over to Comerica Park for a shot with the Tiger who is rooting for the Wings (kind of has to the way the Tigers are playing this season).

We're off for our first beach day of the season!! Stay tuned for pictures tonight and, oh yeah, GO WINGS!!!
