First Day of Summer vacation

Today was the first day of summer vacation for the boys. Papa Mark invited them to go sailing with a friend and they went off for the day and Jeff joined them too.

I was working and couldn't go, there seems to be a theme here. We are moving into the new 9-1-1 center next week, fingers crossed, so it's been busy times for us.

T-ball games start next week! Stay tuned.

Last Day of Kindergarten

Sadly, we came down to the last day. The boys went off with no tears but there were many during the morning. Matthew said it was nice when he cried he got to sit on Mrs. Bauer's lap, my little flirt. They brought home huge portfolios of their work and pictures and all kinds of fun things I can put in my keepsake boxes for the boys. They are now officially first graders! That seems so grown up!

Red Wings Mania!

We're in full playoff fever now!

Thanks to VERY nice friends, Jeff got a chance to go to game 1 of the finals. I was working so he took a friend. Incredible row 11 seats!! What a cool night.

Grandma Cindy sent us gummy penguins from Trader Joe's and we have been enjoying biting the heads off of the penguins during the games!

The boys have been very teary about the end of the school year, they had such fun with school and loved their teacher and have really learned so much.

Ribfest and Old Fashioned Days

Memorial Day weekend we didn't have great weather but we made the best of it and ventured down the VFW for Ribfest 2009. Eight vendors competing for best ribs in town, it was crowded and yummy fun! We saw lots of Kelleys (Grandma, Papa, Aunt Dawn, Uncle Craig, Connor and Krys).

With full tummies we ventured up to Muskegon and realized it was Old Fashioned Days so we did some carnival rides for an hour.

Hoppin' Mother's Day

So, the boys know Grammy loves frogs. She LOVES frogs! She collects frog things and has them all over her house. They decided it would be a froggy mother's day for her. They made her frog suncatchers. Then, they decided to buy her her very own frogs. Little, tiny real live frogs. We found them at Mackinaw Kite and they come with their own eco-system in a little lucite box. Two frogs (both male they say and we hope!), rocks, gravel, a snail to manage the frog waste and a bamboo sprout. The frogs eat twice a week and only need new water a couple times of year. Other than that they are very little work and lots of fun to watch swim and jump and play.

We got the frogs before Mother's Day even though we knew we wouldn't see Grammy for a couple weeks. We wanted to play with them a bit ourselves but the boys were so excited to surprise Grammy and we had to make sure they didn't blow the secret when we called her on Mother's Day. We were strictly instructed NOT to buy frogs for Grandma Kris no matter how cute they were. We named the frogs Tapsy and Frogbin after my imaginary friend's when I was a child. The boys named the snail Gary, after Sponge Bob's friend.

Imagine our surprise when she reported she had been out for dinner with Aunt Judy and Uncle Dick and guess what she had??? FROG LEGS!!!! The boys were in hysterics laughing when we heard that.

This weekend Grammy came to visit. She loves her new pets and took them home. Good thing they only eat twice a week because she forgot their food so we can mail it to her in time for their next feeding.

REALLY good thing they are too small to eat!!!

Mother's Day

Grandma Cindy and Papa Terry came to visit for the weekend and we had a great time with the basketball hoop they brought the boys (it was a birthday present but they didn't have a chance to give it to the boys until now). It was a day long job putting it together but the boys waited patiently and worked on their skills with the ball.

We had church and brunch afterwards with Grandma Kris and Papa Mark and Great Grandma too.

Who knew Grandma Kris could play hoops in heels?
