Weekend Away

We thought we were going to Shanty Creek again with Grandma Kris and Papa Mark, but we were wrong, we are at Boyne! The boys were thrilled when we arrived on Friday the temp outside was 80 degrees!! We quickly changed and hit the outdoor pool. There is still quite a bit of snow on the slopes in the background but it was very warm outside! Overnight, the air cooled and the rain came down so it was a great surprise that we were going to spend the day inside at Avalanche Bay water park. The boys had a ball on the slides and racing. They went up those steps easily 50 times, if not more. Mom's speed is much more lazy river and we spent some good time there too. We didn't get hardly any pictures inside, we were too busy having fun!! We spent the morning inside and then came back, had lunch and a short nap and then went back for a few more hours. Here is Matthew trying the surf ride. It's a quick trip for him.
We had pizza dinner and some fun in the condo afterwards and it was an early night for us all.

Still raining lightly this morning but the Surf Grand Haven website says they have had 3.21 inches of rain since 10am yesterday morning with more coming today so we picked a good weekend to be away. We'll be heading home after lunch.

What a birthday I had!!

Went to a rally for one of our deputies this morning, the sun was shining and there was a large crowd. It was pretty amazing. There is a website up now if you want to read up on what's been happening. There are also two groups on facebook for those who of you who are on there. http://www.standup4ryan.org/

The boys and Daddy outdid themselves on my birthday!! We had lunch and cake with Grandma Kris and decided the weather was so nice we HAD to go to the beach!! It was only about 60 degrees but we couldn't resist and we had a couple of hours of fun with Hayley. The boys and dog actually went in the water!! It was only 39 degrees!!!

The boys school had a variety show that night and their class sang two songs. The boys watched the first act happily but when it was time for them to go backstage and find their class they cried. We got them dropped off with Mrs. Bauer and went to to anxiously wait and see if they would perform.

Their class came out and Jonathan was fine and did the motions and sang. Matthew was still crying and sniffling but he sang the songs and did the motions, he just stood kind of sideways and didn't look into the audience.

Afterwards, they were very proud of themselves!! It was pretty cute. Jeff has some video which I haven't seen yet, I will get him to post it.

New bikes

When we got home the boys were eager to head over to Papa Mark's and see their new bikes which were birthday presents from Grandma Kris and Papa Mark.

They were pros at following clues after the Easter bunny treasure hunt so they did well following clues which led them around Papa's house and outside even into the grill and then found the bikes in the pool shed.

These are big bikes and have hand brakes so it took a bit of adjusting and practice but they were soon on their way!

Thank you Grandma Kris and Papa Mark!!

Easter Sunday morning

Katy didn't feel well so she stayed in bed Easter morning. The other kids had a blast hunting for eggs and following clues the bunny left for them to follow. They found presents and baskets along the way. We had a yummy breakfast and then headed to church and Jeff stayed home with Katy.

After the service we tried to take pictures outside by the cross. It was COLD and the kids were not happy about standing there. You can see them running off in this last picture, so much for the Easter portraits!

We had a marvelous time in Cincinnati, thanks to the Newmans for being great hosts to us. We miss them and there were more than a few tears when we left.

Eggsactly!

Aunt Mary Anne braved five kids and eggs this afternoon.

Can you tell who just woke up from a nap on the way home from the game? She was NOT
cheerful about it either.

All of the kiddos had a bath in the big tub tonight and are jammied and in bed dreaming of the bunny.
