A few more beach pictures

I can't help it, it's where we live this time of year and the days are so much fun.

Stanley comes to Grand Haven

The Stanley Cup and the Eastern Conference champ trophy came to Grand Haven with the Pittsburgh Penguins coach Dan Bylsma who grew up here. The boys and Jeff went down to try to get Matthew's hat autographed for him but the line was miles long so they just got some pictures and gave up. We later found out some of the police we know were guarding the cup and we could have gotten our chance but didn't.

My favorite story of the day is that the Bylsma's knocked on the door of their childhood home and asked if they could take the cup into the backyard where they had dreamed so many times of carrying the cup while they skated on their homemade rink as boys.

Grand Pines Grand Opening

Grandma Kelley is the first resident at a new senior living center in town. She got to help with the ribbon cutting for their grand opening with the mayor and state representative and other executives.

BIG storm!

August 9th brought us a beautiful beach day and we watched storms go both north and south of us as we enjoyed sunshine. Suddenly, about 6pm, our skies darkened and the clouds came flying in and we knew we were under a thunderstorm warning but we werent' prepared for what happened. Winds blew the flag poles horizontally, trees crashed all around us, people ran for shelter from the beach leaving their belongings behind. It blew through in a few minutes but left no power for a few days and a lot of damage but mostly to trees and very little to cottages, thank goodness.

We managed to get to town to get pizza and celebrated a belated birthday for Katy by candlelight with friends. The kids played candyland by flashlight.
